Zali Steggall pulls back Canberra's climate curtain
Zali Steggall is the independent Federal Member for Warringah, and if you visit her website you can hear the Federal Member for Fairfax, Mr Ted O'Brien, speak as he tables the Standing Committee on Environment and Energy advisory report, that incorporates dissenting reports, on the Climate Change (National Framework for Adaptation and Mitigation) Bill 2020 and the Climate Change (National Framework for Adaptation and Mitigation) (Consequential and Transitional Provisions) Bill 2020.
Ms Steggall, a Sydney barrister, was elected to parliament in 2019 ending the political career of former Australian Priminister, Tony Abbott. Mr Abbott, who is known for infamously describing climate change as "crap", was, in his behaviour as the Member for Warringah, the polar opposite of Ms Steggall - he saw climate change as only in the fund-seeking imagination of climate scientists, while Ms Steggall has a Private Member's Bill before parliament calling for action on the climate crisis. She is seeking community support through her "ClimateActNow" website.
